The A11, Norfolk’s main road link with London and the south, is one of the most dangerous roads in the county. It is a major arterial route for road transport, and the most important section of Norfolk’s road transport infrastructure. The fact that the road is not a dual carriageway is beyond comprehension. Not only is the current situation bad for the local economy, a case of economic suicide, but the road costs lives year after year as it struggles to cope with the sheer volume of traffic coming in and out of the county.
How Norfolk got left behind in the road building programme seems extraordinary. We have no ‘M’ roads in Norfolk, not a single stretch, and the fact that the main trunk road between Norwich and London is not even dual carriageway is unbelievable. The County Council is committed to this programme but needs your support as the decision does not reside locally but with central government and the Highways Agency. Let’s get government to sort this out once and for all!
